May 4th – Burlington, Ma, USA. SoftInWay has announced the adding of a new module called NET for thermal-fluid flow simulation and its application to gas turbine secondary and cooling systems analysis & design. Since 2005, when the AxSTREAM platform was first released as the Gold Standard platform for design, analysis and optimization of Turbomachinery flow path, the company has been steadily adding customers, and features. In 2016, over 300 companies, and 1000s of engineers, use AxSTREAM to solve sophisticated turbomachinery design challenges, however SoftInWay wanted to expand and better support the industry. Branching outward, from the specializing in components, new modules have been released, supporting various engineering applications, ranging from thermodynamic cycle design to rotor dynamics and bearing design, analysis and optimization.
Speaking & working with clients and gas turbine industry experts from companies including PSM – Ansaldo Energia, Parametric Solutions, Power Machines, China Gas Turbine Establishment, & etc., the feedback was clear: it was a real challenge to model cooled gas turbines and other cooling flows, especially in an integrated fashion taking into account the full aerodynamics of the components as well as the full thermodynamics of the cycle. With this in mind, the company has added the latest module NET, to provide a flexible approach to solving these challenges by representing thermal-fluid systems through networks of nodes and flow elements. This allows simulation of fluid flow and heat transfer inside of the thermal-fluid systems. Of course, applications of this module go beyond just gas turbine blade cooling systems, to include steam turbine secondary flow systems, industrial gas systems and ventilation systems.
Based on the original research master thesis of SoftInWay’s founder Dr. Moroz from 1982, this module takes the design / re-design / optimization of gas turbines and other cooled components to the next level, in a way no other software in the market can do today. “We are excited that we have created something to help connect the dots for our customers. By continuing to build out our eco system of modules and add-ons for the AxSTREAM platform, we aim to become the Amazon of Turbomachinery development.” said SoftInWay’s Chief operating Officer, Valentine Moroz.
